Our Practice in Oshawa, ON

Dr. Campbell attended the University of Waterloo Optometry program and graduated in 1991. She completed part of her clinical training at the University of California at Berkeley and Nova Southeastern University in Oklahoma. While focused mostly on providing exceptional care in her own community, Dr. Campbell has also participated in eye care projects in Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. These missions have provided thousands of eyeglasses to underprivileged people who otherwise have no access to eye care.

Dr. Campbell was previously chair of the public education committee at the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She was also responsible for developing the public education ads that you see on TV and in print media. She has also spoken to local groups in the community on a variety of eye health topics, and continues to consult on several industry advisory boards.

Dr. Campbell is married to optometrist Dr. Dean Bennett, who practices in Courtice, Ontario.

Dr. Rebecca Horner was raised in Oshawa. After completing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo, she moved to Boston to continue her education at the New England College of Optometry, where she completed her Doctor of Optometry in 2000. During her training, she received extensive clinical experience at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Boston, and the Vision Institute of Canada in Toronto. After graduating, she returned to Oshawa and became a partner at Parkview Optometry in 2002.

Dr. Horner believes in thorough patient care and education. She encourages patient involvement in disease management and prevention, and enjoys working with patients of all ages. In her free time, Dr. Horner enjoys being on the ski hill and travelling with her husband and two sons.

Dr. Laura Panowyk joined Parkview Optometry as an associate in 2016 and became a partner in 2019. She was raised in Whitby and went on to earn her Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario in 2012. Dr. Panowyk graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science in 2016. During her studies, she completed an externship in ocular therapeutics and disease in Miami, where she managed a wide array of ocular pathology including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic/hypertensive retinopathy. She has also participated in a mission trip to Romania to provide eye care to underprivileged populations. Dr. Panowyk is delighted to partner with the Parkview team and continue to build her practice in her local Durham community.

Dr. Yan Li received her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in Cell and Molecular Biology. She then continued her studies at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, graduating with honours in 2019.

As part of her optometric training, Dr. Li had the opportunity to complete one of her clinical rotations in Hong Kong and managed a large variety of ocular diseases in Pinellas Park, Florida. A voluntary mission trip also brought her to Moldova, where she provided eye care to the underprivileged population in Cimislia and thoroughly enjoyed every part of it. Dr. Li is excited to meet patients of all ages and is looking forward to giving back to the community.

Dr. Rutu Patel completed her undergraduate degree with honours at the University of Windsor and earned her doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2018. Upon graduation, she decided to return home to Canada and serve the local community. She values the diverse experiences she had while interning and working in both Canada and the United States. Dr. Patel has a particular interest in the prevention and management of ocular disease.
